Bark destruction services

The most effective protection against bark beetles is timely prevention and a rapid response to the first signs of infestation.

01

We inspect the trees and assess the extent of the infestation.

02

We identify the pest species and any associated risks.

We develop a protection, treatment and prevention programme.

Signs of bark beetle damage on a tree

Rapid bark beetle control on your property

Different bark beetle species pose a serious threat to pine trees in suburban forests and private plantings. Rising temperatures and insufficient moisture in plant tissues contribute to their spread.

Timely prevention helps protect trees before an attack. If bark beetles are already present, a rapid response improves the chances of saving affected plants.

What happens when trees lack moisture

When moisture is insufficient, pine trees release volatile compounds that signal their weakened physiological condition to bark beetles. This can provoke an attack and rapid colonisation.

The European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), sharp-dentated bark beetle (Ips acuminatus) and associated ophiostomatoid fungi are particularly dangerous. Fungal mycelium enters the tree with the pests and accelerates its decline.

Wood discolouration caused by ophiostomatoid fungi

Ophiostomatoid fungi

Characteristic discolouration in a cross-section of a dead tree may indicate infection by ophiostomatoid fungi. These fungi are primarily spread by insects.

After entering a plant, they develop in the phloem and sapwood and block water and mineral transport. It is therefore essential to act before the damage becomes irreversible.
