Tree Care Programme – reliable protection of Kyiv’s chestnuts

Dear colleagues, friends, partners!

We are sincerely pleased to announce the successful implementation of Syngenta’s Tree Care chestnut protection programme. On 24 May 2024, at a meeting between representatives of the Research Centre for Plant Health and Ecosystem Planning ‘Green Clinic’ and the Communal Enterprise for the Maintenance of Green Spaces of Shevchenkovskiy district of Kyiv, an agreement was reached.

The uniqueness of the Tree Care programme is that it effectively protects chestnut trees, as a symbol of the Ukrainian capital, from chestnut moths and other dangerous pests. The effectiveness of the latest protection methods under this programme has been proven in Kiev and Ukraine. Representatives of the companies noted that only by joining efforts they will be able to save the beautiful Kiev chestnut trees and improve the state of ecology in the capital of Ukraine.

According to Dmytro Radyuk, co-founder, CEO of SIC ‘Green Clinic’, previously successfully implemented pilot projects under the programme ‘Тгее Care’, providing treatment of about 50 chestnut trees in different cities of Ukraine during the last three years.

As Dmytro notes, the injection of the drug is ‘economically attractive, because the biological effectiveness of one injection of the drug lasts up to three years’ Already in the near future plans include the treatment of chestnut trees in the alley along Berestey Avenue, and in autumn SIC ‘Green Clinic’ specialists will conduct special measurements of effectiveness.

As Sergiy Kishchenko, business development manager at Syngenta, emphasises, such innovations will make it possible to significantly enhance the attractiveness of the urban environment. According to him, it is already planned to treat about 60 chestnut trees in Kiev with RIVAIV™. Technical support and implementation of this initiative will be provided by specialists of SIC ‘Green Clinic’.

The main advantage of the insecticide is its natural origin, it is completely safe for the environment, people, plants and animals.  Yulia Aleksiychuk, Chief Agronomist of the Communal Enterprise is confident that fruitful co-operation with partners ensures success in chestnut tree protection.

According to Svitlana Romashko, Syngenta’s business manager for Ukraine, the programme has been successful in Spain, Hungary, Greece and Croatia. In Ukraine, it will also achieve significant results for chestnut protection and saving.

Studies conducted by leading international laboratories, as well as the Institute of Plant Industry of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the National University named after A.A. Bogomolets testify to the high efficiency and safety of RIVAIV™.
