The health of the pine root system is important not only for nourishing the plant so that it receives enough nutrients for growth and development, but also for its reliable anchoring in the soil.

During the construction of paths and other construction works, the root system of pine trees is often damaged, which can lead to the death of the tree, disruption of its flooding, nutrition and stability, which can cause it to fall, and this is a danger not only for your buildings near the pine tree, but also for the life and health of people.

Why does damage to the root systems of pine trees occur when laying paths?

During the construction of paths, the root systems of pine trees are often damaged. Damage, cutting off of roots can occur in the process of digging troughs for paths, installing curbs. If cement is used during the construction of the path, it leads to poisoning of the root system and loss of its function. Such poisoning is especially dangerous if the pine roots are close to the soil surface.

As a rule, the acidity level of the soil changes towards alkaline, which negatively affects the health of the plant. Water penetration to the roots of the pine tree is also stopped if it is located under the waterproof surface of a road and/or a large site. This can cause root rot and the death of a significant part of the productive root system.

How to avoid damaging the roots of pine trees when laying paths?

As a rule, pine trees have a superficial root system, and if it is damaged or lost on one side during building works, the plant will no longer be able to provide itself with normal nutrition and will be unable to securely anchor itself in the soil, which means that it is much more likely to fall during a windstorm, which can be dangerous not only for the condition of buildings, but also for human life and health.

In order to avoid the problem of root cutting, you can raise the level of the path by only a few centimetres. In our experience and practice, this inconvenience is well worth it.

Avoiding cement in the path construction process helps to eliminate the problem of soil poisoning by alkaline solutions. We use a hartzless technology in the construction of footpaths and access roads for cars and light vehicles. This provides the following benefits:

The construction process is somewhat cheaper than using cement, which saves some money but does not affect the quality of the road.

Pavements constructed using the groutless technology allow water to pass through and, in a small amount, air, thus, almost do not disturb the ecological balance of the root zone (rhizosphere), maintaining population levels of saprotrophic and symbiotic organisms at a close to natural level.

An alternative to the non-grouted paths made of PV panels and/or natural stones are paths made of decking boards placed on a metal or wooden frame and supported by glass-type micro-piles installed in a staggered manner, taking into account the local absence of roots at the point of installation. Such paths will look no less aesthetically pleasing than the previous version.

they grow.
